Book Review: First Comes Love by Katie Kacvinsky

First Comes Love
by
Katie Kacvinsky
Genre: Young-adult, Contemporary, Romance
"The perfect love story to kick-start your summer reading."--Seventeen.com

Like his name, Gray is dark and stormy. Dylan, a girl who is seemingly unable to settle down, is the exact opposite: full of light and life. On the outside, they seem like an unlikely couple. But looks can be deceiving, and besides, opposites attract. What starts as friendship turns into admiration, respect, and caring, until finally these two lone souls find that they are truly in love with each other. But staying in love is never as easy as falling in love. If Dylan and Gray want their love to last, they're going to have to work at it . . .

4star
"You're never going to experience anything if you wait around for perfect conditions. Look at the sky, Gray. It's gorgeous. It's perfect right now, and you're miss-ing it."
I felt like those words were directed to me.

Remember that time in college when you have to review for an exam, that you start highlighting important things in your book, only you ended up highlighting ALMOST every paragraph, sentence there is, because you're worried that you might miss something important? Something that might help you later on? Yeah, that was exactly what I felt when I was reading Love comes first. I felt the need to remember and absorb everything for life references later on.

Weird?

Book Review: Shattered Blue by Lauren Bird Horowitz

Shattered Blue
by
Lauren Bird Horowitz
Genre: Romance, Fantasy and Paranormal
For Noa and Callum, being together is dangerous, even deadly. From the start, sixteen-year-old Noa senses that the mysterious transfer student to her Monterey boarding school is different. Callum unnerves and intrigues her, and even as she struggles through family tragedy, she’s irresistibly drawn to him. Soon they are bound by his deepest secret: Callum is Fae, banished from another world after a loss hauntingly similar to her own.

But in Noa’s world, Callum needs a special human energy, Light, to survive; his body steals it through touch—or a kiss. And Callum’s not the only Fae on the hunt. When Callum is taken, Noa must decide: Will she sacrifice everything to save him? Even if it means learning their love may not be what she thought?

2star
What I liked in Shattered Blue:

*Cover. That impressive cover got me wanting to read this book so bad.

*World building and Plot. Aurora,(the Fae's realm), fascinates me so much. I wanted to know more about their politics and history. The idea of color-coded Fae was absolutely brilliant, neat and amazing!

Now that I really think about it, Shattered Blue appears to be my first book about Fae's, and it was... Ok. Actually, this book has a LOT of potential.

But...

Blog Tour + Book Review + Giveaway: Stepping Stones by Kacey Vanderkarr

Stepping Stones
by
Kacey Vanderkarr
Genre: Romance, Fantasy

Onnaleigh Moore is part of a plan—and it isn’t hers. When her brother dies in a car accident, Onna is desperate to preserve the tatters of her family. Any hope of finding normalcy vanishes when her mother runs off and her dad turns to booze to numb his pain. Onna’s grief is crippling, but the boy who showed up just when she needed him is helping her cope.

Everett’s presence is comforting, though he knows things—Onna’s name just before they met, where she lives, and sometimes he comments on thoughts she doesn’t say aloud. She pegs him for a stalker, or maybe psychic, but the truth is deadlier than she imagines. As their feelings for one another deepen, Everett confesses a horrifying secret: Onna’s brother is only the beginning of the plan, and some fates are worse than death.

3 Stars

Just when I thought the worse is over, this book gave me the middle finger and screw my feels all over again.
"You never think about goodbye, you know? You say bye and I love you and I'll see you later, but we never know if it's the last time, if it's the final one that has to last forever. We take time for granted because we don't know the concept of finality until it happens to us."
Onna's life is slowly turning into ruins. She has been blinded with a happy and simple family she grew up with that the divorce news of her parents has been a huge blow for her. She thought she already got it hard, little did she know that it's just the beginning.
"The gauze, she thought, was just like her house. You could cover the wounds, make them hide behind cloth, but they still hurt."
I could have finished this book in one sitting, but I didn't. I don't think my heart could've handle how poignant this book is. The emotions conveyed in this book were real and very heartfelt. I ache and cried with Onna. I don't think anyone should experience what happened with Onna's life. It's unimaginable.
